Do you have time for Jesus?

Dear Family,
This week has been really good and we've got to do a whole lot!  The Indian Trail Mission is treating me good.  It's been 97 degrees most of the week with humidity.  I lose about 10 pounds every time I get on the bike :)

My companion is great.  He is amazing at cooking so I'm always eating good food.  The bad part is, he use to race mountain bikes back home. It's really hard to keep up with him.  I get really tired.  I don't ever remember going to bed most nights since I have been here.   

The people around here are very interesting. I guess, most of them are Christian and some of are just crazy. They say they have the gift of tongues so they start speaking in a wired language every once in a while. They say it was given to them though the Holy Ghost.  It's just cool and funny I guess. I have been learning a lot and studying more about it. 

Right now we have 3 solid investigators and they are just so awesome. They all have baptism dates!! I'm so exited for them and the blessing they are going to receive through the gospel!! The Mission President is coming down to my area this week to teach one of our investigators. I can't tell you how excited I am about that!!! 

I miss you all! I have learned a mission isn't the easiest thing I have done so far in my life. The days doesn't always go as you plan. It can get a little discourage at times but I know this  is what I'm supposed to be doing right now I'm my life. I'm truly blessed for this wonderful opportunity to be serving a mission!!  

One more thing I forgot to mention---most of the black people in Kentucky are from Africa.   Contacting is awesome because I just always say, "Hey! I'm Africa."  They actually stop and talk to us.  Haha. Or sometimes if they don't stop, I just say, "Do you have time for Jesus?" If I  say they always stop. I'm getting pretty creative!!! 

I was hoping you could send me some of our family pictures because all the missionaries keep asking me to see a pictures and I don't have any with me... You can just email them to me.  Dad, you where right about the tie trading thing with missionaries.  They keep asking me to trade a tie but I only have like 6 so I can't do it. Grandma Hill said she was buying some from eBay and was going to send some to me but I don't what happened to that. It would be nice if you could ask her about it for me!! I hope your doing good and the summer is going well for you! Love you and miss you!

First Week in Kentucky

Dear family,

My new companion is Elder Fleener.  He's awesome!!   His is from Alaska.  


It rains a lot here in Kentucky.  When it rains it pours. We live in the city and we bike a lot.  We bike every day like 10 miles. That sucks but it's really fun! We got like three people we're teaching right now. Michael, Sylvia, and Kenny. They are super awesome!!! I have learned that the word of wisdom is a really touchy subject but will still teach it  anyway. Haha!

I've been eating a lot of Ramen noodles and Spam sandwiches--kind of gross but I'm learning to like them…haha and cereal is not to bad either. 

I miss you guys all and sounds like you guys had a pretty fun fishing trip.  I Hope Mubarek is enjoying the MTC. I had a lot of fun there and learned more there than I did my whole life. Tell him it's not him teaching the lessons---it's the spirit. I'm sure he is stressing about everything but he will do great!! 

It's been really hot and humid around here. It's really fun explaining to people that Jesus isn't black--that's what they believe around here so it's been really kinda interesting. Lots and lots of Christian churches here so everyone says they already know Jesus and they are saved--yea it's really awesome. I'm learning a lot and I love and miss you guys❤️❤️

MTC First Letter Home

Dear Family,
I would like to begin by saying that I can't believe I complained about one hour of meetings in church. Class is all day, everyday. It's surprising because even though it's challenging to stay focused and to sit sill for that for a long time--I can't tell you how much I love it!

I didn't think the MTC would be like this but it's so much fun. I have two investigators that I'm teaching right now. One of them is Ruth and the other one is Lance. I love them all or both. I guess It's really hard to teach them but teaching them through the spirit is the best thing in the world. They both want to get baptized. It's just so awesome to be here and do my purpose to bring other closer unto Christ!!

I love my district. My companion's name is Elder Call. Cool last night right? There is Elder Pike, Elder Osborn, Elder Baker, and Elder Younger. I love them all. 

 I'm so glad I decided to go on a mission and I know now that it was what I needed. I'm excited for Mubarek. I hope he likes it here. It's crazy here. You get to have the spirit all day everyday and nothing is better than that! Please tell him not to drink the orange juice while he is here…haha... tell him to take my word for it. LOL. I miss you guys all everyday but i know im where im supposed to be. I know that my testimony has grown double since I've been here. I love my Heavenly Father. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you live by his teachings and the path he has set for you. I just love this gospel so much!!!!!!! I got some pictures for you guys and I will send them your way!! Tell everyone that I love them and miss them! 

Thanks for all the prayers. Thanks for getting me or helping me to go on a mission. I have learned more this week than I have in my whole life!! I love you guys all. You were right mom…I love getting real mail so keep the letters coming!!  I sure enjoy reading them after my classes.
